At the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum that took place in the Kempinski Hotel in Accra between the 22nd and 24th of October 2019, NEK Umwelttechnik AG has signed with ECREEE a future-oriented Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding Upwind's Wind Energy pipeline in Ghana.
Following the signing of the land lease agreement and the recent cadastral survey of the northern part of the Konikablo project area, Upwind recently managed to successfully complete the title registration process of the respective lease and was awarded with the title certificate.
On September 24, 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for grid access of the 200MW Konikablo Wind Farm has been signed between Upwind Konikablo Ltd. and the Ghanaian grid operator GRIDCo. This agreement is the basis to connect the Konikablo Wind Farm under development in the Greater Accra Region to the nearby 330kV grid.
After several weeks of preparatory work, the final cadastral survey for the northern part of the Konikablo project area has been successfully conducted over the course of the past week.
The survey aimed to set out the exact project perimeter, by installing concrete pillars around the boundary. The coordinates of each pillar were then recorded with a static GPS. The GPS data now serves as basis for the preparation of the cadastral plan, which - once endorsed - will be plotted into the land title register of the Ghana Lands Commission.
Our third Konikablo community newsletter highlights some important events of the past few months. We are in close contact with the local communities. Several community engagement events around the Konikablo Wind Farm project area took place and even more will follow. As project developers, we are delighted about the participation and positive reactions. It is important for us to develop our projects in a social sustainable manner with all stakeholders engaged and involved. Therefore, the community events are an important part of our wind farm development.
Some weeks ago, the boundary demarcation work for the 200 MW Konikablo Wind Farm has started with the aim of setting out the project perimeter in the field, so that it is clearly marked and visible. On top of each pillar is a flag with the logo of Upwind Konikablo Ltd. mounted.
